The Lugana area lies on the southern part of Lake Garda. It belongs to two different regions (Veneto and Lombardy). It includes the towns of Desenzano del Garda, Lonato, Pozzolengo, Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda.

"frastagliata da rivoli d’acqua, da paludi e da laghetti, sulle rive dei quali si abbeveravano grossi cinghiali, vagavano cervi, caprioli, daini e stambecchi e volteggiavano stormi d’uccelli d’ogni specie”…

(In the past the landscape was charachterised from marshes and cane thickets).

The name has its oringins from the term “Lucanus” and from the ancient “Lucus”, which means wood.

The landscape changed completely thanks to the work of the Benedictine monks during the Middle Ages. The important help of the monks is today confirmed from the names of some parishes such as S.Benedetto di Lugana and S. Vigilio di Lugana.

Subsequently the territory endured deep changes when, at the end of XV th century, Gian Galeazzo Visconti changed the flow of the Mincio river using the wood coming from the area of Lugana. The final disforesting happened for the construction of boats and the fortifications of Peschiera del Garda.
This territory however was swampy and rich of canes field until the second World war.

In the 50s it begun the urban development which took the territory to what we know and see today: an international touristic place.
All this was possible thanks to the Lake Garda and to its mitigated microclimate it creates along its cousts… the same climate gives us the possibility to harvest high quality grapes for the high quality wines you can taste with us direclty in our Winery.
